A Work in Progress...

Today, Philip and I have been working on polishing up some of what he wrote yesterday about his van and his wheelchair ramp. (We focused on his van and let the writing about the other van go for now.) I thought it would be interesting to see how he has edited and improved his writing.

This is what he wrote yesterday:

Van forward in in out out beside wheelchair ramp up down. Battery

This is today's version:

Philip Van: remote forward in in out out front open close door. wheelchair ramp loud hard easy expensive. Same remote wheelchair ramp up down on side. Remote work Battery.

An exercise in comparing and contrasting

Philip sometimes likes to watch You-Tube videos of different kinds of wheelchair ramps. Today while we were taking a break from reading 'Treasure Island' we were watching some videos and got the idea to take a video of his own wheelchair ramp in his van. We decided to compare and contrast his van with another van. This is his video. The post below is the second video we found online. The first paragraph he wrote below is about his van; the second paragraph is about the one we found online. (You will hear me in his video talking to "rampy" ( my pet name for the ramp) because it got stuck partway up.)

Van forward in in out out beside wheelchair ramp up down. Battery

Out near backward. Weird, pointy, back, junk, deaf, gross, loud, hard, expensive, expensive, different.

Today's Madlibs

Today, Philip and I did some Madlibs. Here's what we came up with:

Captain Zoom

Captain Zoom is a superhero who wears a blue cape and a red suit of longunderwear. He has his own yellow and purple rocket ship which takes him all over the universe. His ship is fueled by orange juice mixed with Halloween candy and can go 20 miles an hour.

Video Games

I love to hear video games. I can play them day and 12:30 noon. My mom and gas station are not too happy with my deleting so much time in front of the television barber shop. So we compromised: After dinner I can play 98 hours of video games, provided I help clear the TV show and wash the baseball.

Ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Philips Fabulous Four

Today, Philip wrote four excellent sentences. We talked about how the order of words is important. For instance, you wouldn't say The pretzel ate Philip. You would say instead, Philip ate the pretzel. Here are Philip's Fabulous Four Sentences: ( I thought the one about me borrowing his hygiene products was hilarious)...

Melorie rides pickup truck.

Sandra unloads car.

Claire borrow Deodorant toothbrush toothpaste shampoo

Dad ride pickup truck, come home, go Kroger.

Madlib and Philip's news

Today, Philip and I did a madlib where he gave me all the words to fill in the story. We got some good laughs out of it and thought we would share it. Here it is:

Now that Saudi Arabia and gas stations and all those other weird Arab countries have raised the price of gasoline, millions of patriotic tech support people are trying to economize. Americans are riding bicycles and slow small cars. Many people have turned in their old, gas guzzling passwords and ride to work in a salad. Scientists are working on funny substitutes for gas. One is called shampoo. It is made by mixing regular gasoline with coke. Other people are depending on electric deodorant. These are very round. But there is a problem. You have to stop every 40 miles to have your email recharged.

Here is some news that Philip wanted to share:

Monday Dynavox freeze. text Dad, call We need tech support.

Backhoe

When I came in today, I asked Philip if anything special had happened over the weekend. He said, "Backhoe." After looking for cool videos of backhoes on You-Tube, Philip wrote the following:

I see backhoe outside driveway yard. use ride throw dirt. Dad get backward in forward. He is rent Home Depot. work build pool.

Here comes the flood!!

Philip wants to share this video of a excavator/backhoe. that we found on You-Tube. It's pretty cool, huh?

Philips new button

Recently, Philip and I made a page on his Dynavox with a digital picture as the background. The picture was of Philip and Dad working under the pickup truck. Philip wanted to make a new button for the page. I asked him what he wanted to say on this button. Here is what he said:

You get apron shorts glasses before clean trailer.

I thought it was so thoughtful of him to make sure that Dad changes and wears grundgy work clothes before he cleans out the trailer.
